Today I got an interesting phone call at work. Back almost two months ago, a recruiter called me about a job much closer to home for about 30% more money. However before I could apply, they chose another person.
Well it just so happens another opening there has come up. Unfortunately it's still help desk work, but the pay is better, the commute is WAY better and there is no income tax for me to deal with.
On another front, something I've been kind of struggling with still hasn't resolved itself. It might be some time before it does and the longer it drags on, the uglier it's going to be I think.
I'm also pondering trying a real live dating site. I hate hate HATE the bar scene and let's face it, any woman you pick up in a bar isn't one you're going to stay with for any real length of time.
Anyone have any advice on such things? Honestly, I'm totally clueless on this one.

A break perhaps? A small break even?

How to be a hero to your 9 year old son
You would think it's complicated, but it's not really. This is how you do it:
1. Junk food
2. Cool cars
3. Staying up way too late
4. Hang out with other boys his age so he's not surrounded by his annoying sisters.
5. Drive in movie theater.
God I hope he outgrows this emo looking haircut sometime soon. I want to shave it in his sleep.
The "Dad, it's 1 a.m. Why are you taking my picture in the car while I'm trying to sleep" pose.

And so it begins
So here it is. Blog one on the new blog that's going to be pseudo-public. Public as in my friends and family will actually be allowed to read it, but closed enough so that no one from work and no one from any place I plan to interview with will find it.
For those of you who were reading my old blog, you know how I am about saying what I think. This way I am going to tone back some of the caustic rhetoric on certain topics. I will not blog about some of the personal things if they involve any other people on here. I will, however, stay true to myself and not lie to anyone or about anyone.
Where does that leave things? Well, I am interviewing with two more companies this week. I feel like the law of averages has to catch up at some point. Every time someone tells me how to dress or how to answer interview questions, I just roll my eyes. It's all the same advice so I try to pretend not being too bored by it.
Until new work rolls around, I am keeping myself on as tight a budget as possible. I may have to trim down a bit more, but we'll see as the weeks roll by.
I will have some pictures of me and the little man from over the long weekend coming up soon, but for right now, this is a good start.
